Ford names squad for Widnes clash

James Ford has named his 21-Man Squad ahead of Sunday’s Knights double-header that sees his men’s team take on Widnes Vikings in our latest Betfred Championship encounter.

Ford’s team, despite being knocked out of the Betfred Challenge Cup last weekend in Whitehaven, have had a good start to the season and have a three from five record in the league having already faced bookies’ favourites Featherstone Rovers and Leigh Centurions at the LNER Community Stadium.

Sunday’s match sees Leeds Rhinos loanee Levi Edwards return to the preliminary squad after missing last week with his parent club not wishing him to become cup-tied. The centre could make his Knights debut on Sunday but is vying with James Glover and Jacob Ogden for one of the two spots.

Fellow loanee Ronan Michael misses out after picking up an injury in Cumbria last weekend with the Huddersfield man requiring further assessment. There is better news, however, regarding Joe Porter who, like Michael, left the field with injury but his elbow issue isn’t as bad as first feared.

Brendan O’Hagan made his return from the bench, scoring the Knights’ first try against Whitehaven, and is once again included in the squad alongside fellow half-backs Jamie Ellis and Liam Harris, giving James Ford a welcome selection headache.

Pauli Pauli returns to the squad after completing his three-match suspension, picked up from our victory over Batley Bulldogs earlier this season.

Tickets are available in advance as well as on the day of the match and can be purchased online from yorkcityknights.com/tickets and – before Sunday – from the York Stadium Management Company Ticket Office within the LNER Community Stadium. On matchday, tickets will be available from the Ticket Office booths at the back of the North and West Stands.

Tickets are valid for both the Knights Ladies’ match against Wigan Warriors (12pm) kick-off and the men’s clash with Widnes Vikings and are priced at £20 for adults, £15 for concessions and FREE for under-16s.
