Centre James Glover will have that bit more on the line this Thursday when the Knights travel to The Steel City to face Sheffield Eagles in our Round Thirteen Betfred Championship match.
The 28-year-old joined the Knights from the Eagles ahead of this season and represented the club between 2019 and 2021.
With the Knights looking to bounce back from defeat last time out against Halifax Panthers, the West Yorkshireman admits it’s important for the team to deliver a better showing on Thursday.
“It’s always nice to play against your old teams and people that you know so yeah, I’m looking forward to it. We’ve got quite a lot to fix up from the Halifax match but we’re working hard to get that right in training to go after Sheffield on Thursday.”
Discussing what the key focus has been on in preparations for our first match of two in four days, Glover pointed to the need for a positive reaction to our first Championship loss since February.
“Getting the right response is massive. Everybody knows we were way off our standards last weekend so it’s just about fixing up what we did wrong to put a good performance in.”
After pulling on the Eagles’ red for three years, Glover reflected on the team’s return to Sheffield after many recent years away.
“It means a lot to the club, I know that from my time there. They’ve been away from Sheffield for nine years, apart from the year there in 2019. I watched the first game back on TV and it was a good spectacle and good for them to get home.
“I’m not there now, though, and it’s all about York and what we can do.”
Tickets are available from the Knights Club Shop for Thursday’s match at Sheffield Eagles (3pm KO). Adult tickets start from £18, concessions from £12 and juniors from £5.
