Currently in a rich vein of form in this year’s Betfred Championship campaign, the Knights are looking for a fifth consecutive league win this afternoon with Whitehaven coming to the LNER Community Stadium.
James Glover, an off-season recruit from Sheffield Eagles, has been one of the key pillars of the form James Ford’s men are currently enjoying and, with three tries in his last two games, the centre is growing into the Knights shirt.
Discussing his start to the season, the Wakefield-born man said: “I think I’m going alright. There’s areas to improve, not just for myself but the team, but I think I’ve started alright.”
The last few weeks have seen the Knights pack deliver a number of dominant showings, something Glover is thankful for.
“They set the platform for us backs to finish off. The forwards have been massive and they are giving us the space to really play well.”
With six league wins to their name so far in 2022, Glover further spoke of the confidence within the playing group.
“It’s building. From day one, we were quite confident in the talent and the squad that we have got here but it’s about trusting one another and the systems.”
The centre was part of the under-strength Knights team that travelled to face today’s opponents in Cumbria back in March when Whitehaven knocked York out of the Betfred Challenge Cup.
“We definitely owe them one,” Glover expressed. “It’ll be a totally different game with probably different teams on a different surface in a different environment so yeah, we need to fix up and put some wrongs right to what we delivered last time.”
Tickets will be available all the way until kick-off ahead of this afternoon’s match against Whitehaven with the Ticket Office booth at the back of the North Stand open from 12pm. Tickets can also be purchase online – join us at the LNER to support the lads!
