Hull FC v York Knights: Match Preview

York Knights travel to the MKM Stadium to take on Hull FC for their next game in the Betfred Super League on Friday 27th February (8pm)!

It’s the Knights first visit to the MKM Stadium, and the first time since 1997 that the two sides have met in a competitive game. That was in the Divisional Premiership, an end of season competition, and Hull won 52-6 at the Boulevard.

Before that, the clubs met in the Regal Trophy and Yorkshire Cup, but you have to go back to York’s last time in the top flight in 1985/86 to find their last league encounter when Hull ran out 16-12 winners at the Boulevard. The likes of Geoff Pryce, Steve Dobson and Sean Willey all lined up for York that day, against a Hull side containing Lee Crooks and Gary Schofield, along with York born Gary Divorty.

The last time York beat Hull was in 1977 in a second division match by 18 points to 15, again at the Boulevard.

This week’s game could see some players coming up against their former clubs. It’s a return for Jordan Thompson, Josh Griffin, Kieran Buchannan and Liam Harris, along with Denive Balmforth, who is on loan from Hull to York for the season.

The game could also see former Knight, Connor Bailey come up against York for the first time since his move over to East Yorkshire in the off season. If fit, Joe Batchelor could also face his former club.

York will be hoping for the return of Ata Hingano and Jesse Dee, who were ruled out of the defeat at Leeds with knocks, while Hull have some injury concerns of their own. Full back, Will Pryce has ruptured his ACL and will be out for the season. New signing, Jake Arthur and forward John Asiata are also doubts for the Black and Whites.

Tickets are priced at £29 for adults, £20 for Concessions (65+, ages 19–22), £10 Junior (ages 2–18), £5 Junior Swap, Free for under the age of 2 years old.

Knights fans will be allocated in the North East Stand, operating unreserved seating, Supporters requiring a wheelchair bay should call 01904 950 950 and select option 1 to purchase.

Junior Swap tickets are only relevant for York RLFC Season Ticket Members that are 18 and Under. Please call the York SMC Ticket office to access the members' price. It is not available online.

Hull FC have sent physical tickets for this game, meaning all ticket sales will be made for collection from the York SMC Ticket Office in the Main Hub of the LNER Community Stadium.
