Knights Ladies to take part in Nines Festival!

Sunday 24 July will see the inaugural Women’s Nines Finals Day take place at Salford’s AJ Bell Stadium, with tickets now on sale.

Following a thrilling festival at Warrington back in May, the draw was made this week to determine the groups for the finals, which are as follows:

Group 1: Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens

Group 2: Catalans Dragons, Warrington Wolves, York City Knights

Warrington Wolves enter as the Finals’ Wildcard, whilst the rest won their respective qualifying groups in May’s festival.

Twenty teams played a total of thirty matches in a celebration of the development of the Women’s and Girl’s game which stretched well beyond the Betfred Women’s Super League.

Les Deesses Catalanes – the women’s team from the Catalans Dragons – won all three of their games, including claiming the notable scalp of Wigan Warriors.

Cardiff Demons and London Broncos each won two of their three matches, only to be pipped to finals places by York City Knights and Leeds Rhinos respectively.

Thomas Brindle, the RFL’s Head of Growth and BWSL General Manager, said: “We are a month away from the Women’s Rugby League Nines Finals Day – May’s festival was a huge success, and it was brilliant to see a lot of our young fans in attendance and engaging with stars of Women’s Rugby League.

“This event will only help in driving the momentum we are seeing in Women’s Rugby League further, following the Betfred Challenge Cup Final, the two mid-season international games, and the first regular season fixture live on Sky Sports.

“The Women’s Nines Finals is a really exciting prospect, and I expect a fast-paced, entertaining day of Rugby League.”
