Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield has named her preliminary squad for Sunday’s Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Group Three clash against Wigan Warriors at the LNER Community Stadium – the first leg of a Knights double-header!
Several high-profile players are included for the first time this year, including centres Tamzin Renouf and Savannah Andrade, and could be joined by the likes of Grace Field and potential debutant Hollie Dodd on home turf for the first time in 2022.
Last year saw Anfield’s team inflict three defeats on Wigan, but all three were tight encounters, none moreso than her first match at the helm when the two teams produced a Challenge Cup classic with the Knights recording a 30-24 win with prop Field scoring a hat-trick on debut.
Tara Jane Stanley, so impressive off the bench last week in scoring five tries, is in line to make her eagerly awaited home debut and paid tribute to her teammates for their good work against Dewsbury Moor in the Ladies’ first match of 2022. Rhiannion Marshall delivered a strong performance last time out, scoring three tries, and Anfield’s team have strike across the pitch and have all the ingredients to produce an entertaining match for the Knights supporters on Sunday.
Tickets are available now from the York Stadium Management Company Ticket Office at yorkcityknights.com/tickets. Supporters will also be available to buy tickets on the day from the Ticket Office booths at the back of the North and West Stands.
