York Valkyrie travel to Leigh Leopards in the Betfred Women’s Super League on Saturday (1pm)!

The teams meet at Golborne Parkside for the first time in the league, after the Leopards were promoted to the top flight through the play offs last year.

However, it’s the second time they’ve met this season, with the Valkyrie running out 52-0 winners in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup quarter finals at the LNER Community Stadium in April.

Emma Kershaw and Jazz Rampton both scored twice that day, as the Valkyrie ran in ten tries to progress through to the semi finals.

The only other time they met was in 2023, when the Valkyrie won 54-0 in the group stages of the Challenge Cup.

So far in the league, York have won just one game, beating Leeds Rhinos 24-16 at the LNER Community Stadium. Last time out for Lindsay Anfield’s side, it was a narrow 16-12 defeat at home to St.Helens in a repeat of last year’s Grand Final.

The Leopards are currently sitting in third place, after winning two and losing one of their opening matches. Wins over Barrow (42-10) and Warrington (42-6) got them off to a flying start, before a defeat at Huddersfield (32-6) saw them drop points. Saturday’s game is the first time they’ve faced one of the “top four” in Super League.

In contrast, the Valkyrie have had a start which has seen them play Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos and St.Helens.

York Valkyrie travel to Golborne Parkside (WA3 3HG) to face Leigh Leopards on Saturday (1pm)!
