York RLFC legends Gary Price and Darren Callaghan have been inducted into the Hall of Fame!
Both players were formally admitted into the prestigious group at the 2025 Hall of Fame dinner, held at the Merchant Adventurers Hall in York.
More than 100 guests, including Hall of Fame members and their families, enjoyed a three course meal, provided by our partners, Purple Chilli Events Catering.
Gary Price (heritage number #1161) was presented with his bespoke jacket, proudly provided by Master Debonair, by team mate and fellow Hall of Fame Member, Graham Steadman.
Price played for York from 1979 to 1986, scoring 40 tries, two goals and one drop goal.
The second row forward was part of the York side which won the Second Division title in 1980/81 and again earned promotion to the Championship in 1984/85.
He was also part of the team which reached the Challenge Cup semi-final in 1984.
Darren Callaghan (heritage number #1388) received his jacket from his former team mate, Mark Cain, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year.
Callaghan made a total of 137 appearances for York.
He was named on the bench for one game for the Wasps in 1996 before becoming a regular between 1999 and 2000, and then for the Knights from 2003 to 2005.
Callaghan and Price were selected by a committee consisting of Knights Supporters Society members, former players and journalists.
Also honoured on the night was Barry Davis, who’s son Alex received the John Stabler Lifetime Achievement award on his behalf, in recognition of his involvement in rugby league in the city across more than 40 years. Barry founded York All Blacks in 1983, which later became New Earswick All Blacks ARLFC.
The York RLFC Hall of Fame was launched in 2013 by the Knights Supporters Society (KSS) to celebrate the storied history of rugby league in York following the Club’s formation in 1868.
Currently there are 28 players inducted in the York RLFC Hall of Fame, including legends such as Geoff Pryce, Graham Steadman and Willie Hargreaves.
Hall of Fame is a York RLFC event with the support of the Knights Supporters Society, and we work in partnership to continue our journey of celebrating the club’s heritage and history.
