Squad named for Grand Final

Lindsay Anfield has named her squad for Sunday’s Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final between the Knights and Leeds Rhinos with her team chasing history.

Already the first York team to lift the Women’s Super League League Leaders’ Shield – a triumph that followed the Knights becoming the inaugural winners of the Women’s Nines competition – Sunday presents Anfield’s squad with the chance to become the first York team to lift the biggest trophy in this country.

Off the back of victory against Wigan Warriors in the Play-Off Semi-Final a fortnight ago, Anfield has been able to name much the same squad for Sunday’s match at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium – a match that will be shown live on Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Mix.

French internationals Elisa Akpa and Leila Bessahli have been included once again after impressing in their time with the Club so far while winger Kelsey Gentles – after making a try-scoring return in the Semi-Final – looks set to continue on the flank once again.

Georgie Hetherington has also returned to action following an injury lay-off in recent weeks and, alongside co-captain Katie Langan, youngster Olivia Gale and mid-season recruit Lacey Owen, gives Anfield options in the halves.
