York City Knights Ladies have dominated this year’s Betfred Women’s Super League competition and that has been recognised
with three of Lindsay Anfield’s players being nominated for this year’s Woman of Steel award.
Star full-back Tara Jane Stanley, co-captain Sinead Peach and impressive back-rower Hollie Dodd have all been named on the shortlist after helping the Knights to this year’s League Leaders’ Shield.
Both Stanley and Dodd have earned England honours throughout this campaign and Peach was recently named in the England Knights women’s squad after showing her quality and leadership throughout this season.
Two of the three previous winners of the Woman of Steel award – Leeds Rhinos’ Georgia Roche and St Helens’ Jodie Cunningham – have both also been named on the shortlist along with the latter’s teammate Amy Hardcastle.
For the first time, performances up to and including the BWSL Grand Final – at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday 18th September – will be taken into consideration before the 2022 Woman of Steel is revealed on Thursday 22nd September.
That will be followed by a first Betfred Women’s Super League Awards Celebration at Old Trafford on Saturday 24th September before the men’s Betfred Super League Grand Final – when the Woman of Steel will be joined by the winners of the Young Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Top Tackler and Top Points Scorer awards.
