Toulouse Olympique v York Knights - Match Preview

York Knights will be seeking to secure consecutive victories in the Betfred Championship when they make the trip to early league leaders Toulouse Olympique on Saturday evening (5pm UK time).

York picked up their first win of the season when they defeated rivals Bradford Bulls 32-16 at the LNER Community Stadium on Monday night, with the Knights twice coming from behind to topple the visitors.

The result provided the perfect response to the narrow 19-12 defeat to Widnes Vikings in round one.

Toulouse meanwhile have enjoyed a promising start to life back in the Betfred Championship following relegation from Betfred Super League.

Two convincing wins have been recorded, racking up 82 points and conceding just four in the process.

The French club overcame last year’s fourth-placed outfit Barrow Raiders 24-4, with Benjamin Laguerre scoring two tries at Craven Park.

Back on home soil, Toulouse dispatched Newcastle Thunder 58-0 at the Stade Ernest-Wallon in an 11-try rout.

Those two results for Toulouse came despite losing star names Tony Gigot, Matty Russell and Corey Norman among others during a transitional off-season.

Head Coach Sylvain Houles has added World Cup pair Josh Ralph (Wales) and Calum Gahan (Scotland) to his side alongside Salford Red Devils prop Sitaleki Akauola and Hull KR front-rower Greg Richards.

The Knights will be seeking to overturn a difficult recent record away to Toulouse, having seen the hosts win the last six matches played in Southern France.
