York RLFC is delighted to retain experienced forward, Ukuma Ta’ai for 2025!
The Tongan international will remain at the club for a further season, after agreeing an extension to his contract, thanks to support from Squadbuilder.
Ta’ai brought plenty of experience with him when he arrived at the club for the start of 2023, having spent eight years in Super League with Huddersfield Giants, and before that, three years in the NRL with New Zealand Warriors.
After leaving the Giants, he went on to play for two years at Newcastle Thunder, before joining the Knights.
The 37-year old has overcome injuries in his time at York, but he’s still gone on to play 47 matches and score six tries.
On extending his stay, Knights coach, Mark Applegarth said: "I'm really glad Ukuma is over the line.
"He’s a father figure of that forward group, not only for what he brings on the field but he’s a very good mentor of the players off it.
"It's not only with his rugby league experience but with how he lives his life and the values he upholds.
"He's a really fantastic re-signing for York and he’ll add a lot to not only the playing ability of the squad but the culture away from the rugby as well."
