York Valkyrie Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield has confirmed her preliminary squad, in partnership with Inglis Chartered Accountants, for Sunday's 2023 Women's Nines Festival at Warrington's Victoria Park.
The Valkyrie face Barrow Raiders (10.30am), Hull FC (11.20pm) and Workington Town (12.10pm) in Group Five on Sunday, with the top side from each Group plus one wildcard progressing to Finals Day at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday 24th June.
Anfield has named a 17-player squad for the shortened-format competition, with Matilda Butler, Eva Izumi and Chevelle Clarke all coming into the Valkyrie side, the latter duo potentially making their first-team debuts for York.
Savannah Andrade, Jas Bell, Grace Field, Georgie Hetherington, Lacey Owen, Tara Jane Stanley drop out of the Valkyrie squad.
The Valkyrie will be aiming to continue their unbeaten start to 2023 following four straight victories over Leeds Rhinos (12-34), St Helens (26-6), Barrow Raiders (4-44) and Hull KR (122-0).
