Valkyrie name preliminary squad for clash against Wigan


York Valkyrie Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield has confirmed her preliminary squad, in partnership with Inglis Chartered Accountants, for Sunday's Betfred Women's Super League clash against Wigan Warriors at the LNER Community Stadium (12pm).


Anfield has recalled forwards Jas Bell, Aimee Staveley, Grace Field, Alisha Clayton, Daisy Sanderson and Jess Sharp to her preliminary squad following last weekend's Women's Nines Finals.


Utility Georgie Hetherington drops out due to a hip injury while Chloe Smith misses out having joined Castleford Tigers on dual registration.


The Valkyrie will be hoping to earn a fourth straight Betfred Women's Super League victory this year after wins over Leeds Rhinos (12-34), St Helens (26-6) and Warrington Wolves (44-4).

York Valkyrie resume their Betfred Women's Super League against Wigan Warriors on Sunday as part of a double header at the LNER Community Stadium, with York Knights taking on Halifax Panthers in the Betfred Championship later that afternoon (3pm).
