York Valkyrie trio Georgie Hetherington, Emma Kershaw and Liv Whitehead have been named in the latest England Women's Knights 19-player squad.
Hetherington, Kershaw and Whitehead have all enjoyed strong starts to the season for the unbeaten Valkyrie, who have won all of their six matches in 2023.
Former England Students international Hetherington has scored three tries and contributed four assists from six contests this year while centre Kershaw has bagged five tries and an assist from her half-a-dozen outings.
Winger Whitehead has crossed for four tries from as many appearances this year, while also scoring five goals.
The Knights squad offers players a pathway into the senior England set-up and, with an Autumn International at Headingley Stadium now confirmed, those selected will have the chance to play their way into Head Coach Stuart Barrow’s squad to face Wales on Saturday 4th November (TBC).
Barrow said: “The England Women Knights is a really important part of the international pathway and it gives some of our younger players who are knocking on the door a chance to push into the senior squad.
“With our Autumn International confirmed, these players now have a real opportunity to display the quality I know they all possess and earn themselves a place in the team to face Wales.
“With the Betfred Women’s Super League still in its early stages, there is still plenty of opportunity for more players to be added to the England Women Knights as the season progresses.”
