World Cup selection for two Valkyrie!
Two York Valkyrie players are heading to the 2026 Rugby League World Cup after being selected to represent their countries!
Forwards, Olivia Wood and Agnes Wood will both travel to Australia after being named in the squads for England and Wales respectively.
England Women head coach Stuart Barrow named a 23-player squad including four potential debutants, including NRLW Grand Finalist Jasmin Strange, whose father, John played for York Wasps in the late 1990s.
Former Valkyrie, Hollie-Mae Dodd, who now plays with Canberra Raiders in the NRLW is also included.
It’ll be Liv Wood’s second World Cup, after featuring for England in 2022.
It’s a first World Cup selection for Agnes Wood, who has six Welsh caps to her name.
Former Valkyrie, Georgia Cussons, now of Huddersfield Giants, is also included.
Wales meet England at HBF Park in Perth on Saturday 17th October (7.35am BST)
