York City Knights Disability RL Back for 2020

In 2019 the York City Knights were approached to be one of the founding clubs in the Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League (LDSL). The team made their LDSL debut at magic weekend in front of a packed Anfield stadium.

The Disability club has grown from strength to strength in the past 9 months giving people with learning and physical disabilities the opportunity to play an adapted version of Rugby League, with the opportunity to play in a series of high-profile festivals and events. It also promotes the development of skills, confidence and creates positive experiences for people with learning disabilities, whilst promoting social inclusion.

Current player of the year, Robyn Hyde, had this to say about the club “I really enjoy it, playing for the learning disability side…It helps me keep active, very good for exercise as well. I have also made plenty of new friends as well.”

The Disability RL club is open to anyone, regardless of ability and for the first time ever, we have partnered with MENCAP as part of their Round the World Challenge.

The programme is free, but booking is essential and can be done at www.yorkcityknights.com/foundation
