York Knights fell to a 20 - 72 defeat to Wigan Warriors in the Betfred Super League battle at LNER Community Stadium.
Attendance: 7258
Despite a late flurry of four tries in ten minutes for the Knights, the visitors dominated the contest by scoring thirteen tries in total. Jai Field scored a hat-trick, while Adam Keighran landed ten goals from 13 attempts.
The Warriors took the lead within the opening minute. Following a swift start, Samuel Eseh crossed the line to score under the posts, with Adam Keighran landing the conversion to make it 6-0.
Jake Wardle followed up soon after with a try before Noah Hodkinson got his first of the afternoon from close range for another converted try.
Adam Keighran then added a try of his own, and Jai Field set up a dangerous play that allowed Hodkinson to cross for his second out wide.
Just before half-time, Wigan Warriors secured further scores through Field's first two tries of the afternoon and one from Junior Nsemba, giving them a commanding 0 - 44 lead at the break.
Three minutes after the restart, Field secured his third try of the afternoon with a finish in the corner to complete his hat-trick, before Bevan French broke through the line to cross under the posts.
Wigan added further points as Wardle secured his double and Jack Farrimond added a late try, before the resilient Knights responded in the final ten minutes with four quickfire tries from Cody Hunter, Scott Galeano, and Liam Harris to complete the 20 - 72 scoring.
