York Knights face Oldham RLFC in a big game in the Betfred Championship on Sunday at the LNER Community Stadium (3pm)!

It’s first against fourth in the table, and with just four points separating them the result will have an impact on the race to top the league.

Oldham have had a great year following their promotion from League 1, and have won 11 and drawn two of their matches so far.

Four of those defeats have been by Bradford Bulls and Toulouse Olympique, while they drew 18-18 at Batley Bulldogs at the start of the year, and 10-10 at Widnes Vikings.

Sean Long’s team go into this game having won six of their last eight matches, their most recent being a 46-18 win at home against bottom of the table Hunslet.

York are on an 11 match winning run in the Championship, having lost just four games this year.

One of those was the opening day of the season at Oldham, where they suffered a heavy and unexpected 50-4 defeat. Joe Brown scored York’s only try that afternoon, while Oldham ran in eight tries. Former Knight, Kieron Dixon kicked nine goals as well as scoring two tries for a personal points tally of 26.

Since that game, Oldham have added another former Knight to their squad. Morgan Smith has joined from Sheffield Eagles, and he’s forming a half back pairing with former Warrington star, Josh Drinkwater.

Mark Applegarth’s side will be looking to put a few things right from that opening day defeat. He could make some enforced changes to the line up from last week’s win at Halifax, after both Liam Harris and Sam Cook picked up injuries.
