York RLFC Foundation were hugely grateful to receive a donation of £6,000 from York house-builder Persimmon on Saturday.
The York RLFC Foundation received the donation after successfully applying for funding through Persimmon's Community Champions scheme.
The Community Champions scheme is open to local charities, schools and community groups, with £180,000 being awarded each quarter.
The donation was presented by Scott Waters (back row, second from left), the Managing Director at Persimmon Homes, and Sean Eames (back row, third from left), the Head of External Affair at Persimmon Homes, before Saturday's Betfred Championship clash between York Knights and Toulouse Olympique at the LNER Community Stadium.
York RLFC Foundation Delivery Manager Adam Prentis said on the donation: "I would like to thank Scott Waters and Persimmon Yorkshire whole heartedly for their support shown through approving the funding application. "This is yet another step forward for the Foundation to enhance what we are able to offer to the local community. "The Foundation has come a long way in recent years and continues to grow by adding new programmes and strengthening existing projects. "The support of Persimmon allows us to continue to grow our outreach programme and give more youngsters the opportunity to develop on our pathway. "We remain as committed as ever in supporting our local community to access a wide range of high-quality programmes and this Persimmon funding aids our objective."
Persimmon Yorkshire Managing Director Scott Waters said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the York RLFC Foundation here in our home city of York. “The York RLFC Foundation plays an important role in helping local young people get active and so it was great to meet some of the young Foundation players and hear their enthusiasm for the sport.
