York RLFC’s Betfred Championship fixture against Batley Bulldogs on Sunday (3pm) has been designated as the club’s second Inclusion Day!
The York RLFC Inclusion Day will once again showcase York RI Templars, our Wheelchair Junior Festival, Wheelchair Festival and Learning Disabilities Rugby League Festival.
Ahead of the Knights fixture the York RI Templars take on IGR Barbarians at 12.30pm with the turnstyles opening at 12.15pm.
The Templars are an inclusive rugby union team, who provide a safe space for homosexual, bisexual, transgender and heterosexual men to play rugby.
Founded in 2019 with the support of the RFU and York Pride, York RI Templars compete in the IGR Development League North and won the Sport Inclusivity Award at the 2022 York Sports Awards.
The IGR Barbarians is a team made up of players from across the Northern League.
Away from the main pitch in the Sports Hall from 10.45am-2pm will be the Wheelchair Festivals involving our junior and senior players.
They'll be playing along with teams from Sheffield Eagles and Hull FC.
The Sports Hall's first-floor seating area has a capacity of 212, and admission is free of charge
From 1pm, the Astroturf pitches will be where the York LDRL team will be showing off their skills, against their counterparts from Sheffield Eagles, Hull FC and Newcastle Thunder.
