York RLFC is proud to support the charity, Menfulness as part of a new rugby league partnership bringing clubs across the York area together with a shared commitment to positive mental health.

Menfulness is an award-winning York-based men’s mental health charity. The partnership with the club has been launched with the aim of ensuring the well-being of players, coaches, staff and volunteers as a priority across the game. players, coaches, staff and volunteers as a priority across the game. Alongside York RLFC, the partnership includes York Acorn RLFC, Heworth RLFC, New Earswick All Blacks RLFC, Southland Masters, York Master RL, York St John RL and York Barbarians.

The initiative will see Menfulness working closely with clubs throughout the season, through presentations, talks and resources focused on positive mental health. Clubs will also be able to signpost players and members to Menfulness activities and their free counselling support where needed.

Menfulness has already delivered well-received sessions with senior and Under-16 players at Heworth and York Acorn, with further activity planned across the coming months.

Speaking on behalf of York RLFC Foundation, Delivery Manager Adam Prentis said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be supporting Menfulness, a fantastic local charity that is making real progress in improving conversations around men’s mental health.

"To have the backing of clubs from across our local rugby league community is hugely significant and reflects the progress being made in tackling the stigma that can still exist around talking openly about mental health.

"Rugby league has always been about looking after one another, on and off the pitch, and this partnership shows the power of our sport to bring people together to drive positive change.

"The work we are already delivering together, alongside activity planned over the coming months, will continue to build momentum and create a lasting impact across our community.”

Menfulness Trustee, Dan Braidley added that the response from clubs had been overwhelmingly positive, describing the partnership as a way of uniting the region’s rugby league community behind a cause that sits beyond rivalry.

The partnership will be officially launched on Saturday 16 May, when Menfulness will be the official matchday partners for the double header of York Valkyrie v Huddersfield Giants in the Betfred Women's Super League (12pm) and York Knights v Castleford (3pm) at the LNER Community Stadium.
