York RLFC to host Inclusion Day this Sunday!

York RLFC are delighted to confirm that our Inclusion Day fixture will take place on Sunday against Newcastle Thunder!

The York RLFC Inclusion Day will see York RI Templars take on Newcastle Ravens (12pm) at the LNER Community Stadium ahead of York Knights facing Newcastle Thunder in the Betfred Championship (3pm).

Elsewhere, the York Learning Disability Rugby League (LDRL) team will take part in a Festival at the LNER Community Stadium's 3G pitches (1pm) and the York Wheelchair Rugby League team are competing in a Wheelchair Showcase in the Stadium's Sports Hall (12.30pm).

York RI Templars are an inclusive rugby union team, who provide a safe space for homosexual, bisexual, transgender and heterosexual men to play rugby.

Founded in 2019 with the support of the RFU and York Pride, York RI Templars compete in the IGR Development League North and won the Sport Inclusivity Award at the 2022 York Sports Awards.

The Templars will take to the LNER Community Stadium field for a 12pm kick-off, with turnstiles opening from 11.30am.

York RLFC will be operating a pass-out system on, allowing supporters to access the amenities around the ground as well as enjoying both the matches inside the LNER Community Stadium.

Elsewhere, The York LDRL team will be participating in an Outdoor Festival alongside teams from Hull KR and Sheffield Eagles at the LNER Community Stadium's 3G pitches (1pm) as well as taking to the field at the half-time interval of the York Knights' clash against Newcastle Thunder.

The York Wheelchair Rugby League team will compete North Wales Crusaders, Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity in the side's first hit-out since forming in December.

Each side will take on each other in rolling 15-minute five-a-side matches.

Nicholas Kennedy, a star of the England's Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) team, will be the afternoon's Guest of Honour, continuing his support for the York RLFC Foundation, having attending last year's Annual Disability Awards evening.

The 2021 Rugby League Wheelchair World Cup Trophy, as won by England, will also be heading to the LNER Community Stadium, providing the perfect photo opportunity for both Wheelchair players and supporters.

The Sports Hall's first-floor seating area has a capacity of 212, with admission free of charge and any interested spectators welcome in showing their support for the York RLFC's Wheelchair side.

York Knights continue their Betfred Championship campaign on Sunday (3pm) against Newcastle Thunder at the LNER Community Stadium.
