York unites behind Sir Kevin Sinfield's 7 in 7 challenge!

The City of York came together in remarkable fashion to support Sir Kevin Sinfield during his inspirational 7 in 7 Challenge!
He’s running seven ultra marathons in seven days, taking in every English Betfred Super League ground to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and show solidarity with everyone affected by the condition.
Schools, community groups, families and local residents across York and North Yorkshire played their part in creating an unforgettable day as Sir Kevin made his way through the city on the second leg of his challenge.
One of the most significant demonstrations of support came from Archbishop Holgate's School, with a day-long programme inspired by Sir Kevin's efforts.
Starting at 7am, with Year 13 students and staff, each year group was challenged throughout the day to complete a minimum of seven laps of the school’s 500 metre perimeter during their allotted 60-minute activity session.
Inside the classroom, students explored the impact of MND and learned more about why Sir Kevin continues to champion the cause. Activities focused on raising awareness of the disease, the experiences of those living with it, and the importance of supporting vital fundraising efforts.
The highlight of the day came when 1,800 students lined nearby streets to cheer, clap and encourage Sir Kevin as he passed the school on his way towards the University of York. The sea of supporters created a memorable welcome and demonstrated the powerful connection between sport, education and community action.
The activities continued after the school day had ended, with parents, carers and other members of the school community joining in and adding their own miles and support to the challenge before finally concluding at 7pm.
Hundreds more people gathered at the LNER Community Stadium earlier in the afternoon to welcome Sir Kevin during a short stop on his journey. Supporters of all ages heard from Sir Kevin and showed their appreciation for the incredible commitment he continues to demonstrate in the fight against MND.
The day left many across the city inspired, showing the difference that communities can make when they unite behind a common cause. York's response demonstrated not only the support for Sir Kevin, but also the commitment to raising awareness of MND and standing alongside those affected by the disease.
Sir Kevin will now continue his journey towards Old Trafford, where he will deliver the match ball ahead of Saturday's Betfred Super League Grand Final, bringing to a close another extraordinary challenge in support of the MND community.
