York Knights Wheelchair team is looking for new players of all ages, gender, ability and experience to join them!
Wheelchair Rugby League is an inclusive and accessible variant of rugby league for all abilities. It is the only rugby league offer that is wholly inclusive and teams feature wheelchair athletes and non-disabled players.
Clubs across the UK have been set up to improve the physical well-being of players to enjoy this sport, offering an opportunity for individuals who are either unable to or have no desire to participate in the running game.
The sport is unique in that it offers both disabled and non-disabled players the opportunity to compete both with and against each other.
So, no matter what gender or age players are, everyone competes on a level playing field which is created by the use of wheelchairs and some slight adaptations of the rules of rugby league.
Training sessions are between 7pm-9pm at the Main Sports Hall of the York Sport Centre at the University of York (YO10 5NA).
Come and experience Wheelchair Rugby League live when York Knights face Bradford Bulls in round five of the Championship on Sunday (12pm) in the LNER Community Stadium Sports Hall! Entry is FREE!

Love how Wheelchair Rugby League brings people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds together on a truly level playing field. That’s real inclusivity in sport.
It also makes you think about how age isn’t just a number in the way we usually measure it. Some people might want to calculate chronological age to understand eligibility, fitness levels, or just general awareness, but in sports like this, what really matters is participation and passion rather than the number itself. Really inspiring work by York Knights
Wheelchair rugby has such a strong global impact . I recently read an interview highlighting how inclusive and tactical the sport is , and it really shows how powerful this game is for all abilities.”
