Eight York Valkyrie players have been included in two regional training squads named by England Women Head Coach Stuart Barrow, as preparations continue for the Origin double-header on Saturday 2 August at Sewell Group Craven Park.

The Valkyrie have seven players picked to represent Yorkshire with former England international Zoe Hornby selected for the first time since she made her return to playing Rugby League.

She's joined by Emma Kershaw, Georgie Dagger, Jas Bell, Liv Wood, Savannah Andrade and Tamzin Renouf.

Winger Eboni Partington has been selected to represent Lancashire.

Also for Lancashire, Luci McColm is included for the first time alongside ten of her St Helens teammates following a standout performance against Leigh Leopards in July. The 21-year-old scored 28 points during the BWSL clash including a hat-tick of tries to make it 10 for the season and move within one try of leaders Amelia Brown, of Huddersfield, and Wigan pair Eva Hunter and Grace Banks.

The new Challenge Cup winners are also well represented in the Lancashire squad with seven of Wigan’s young starlets named including 19-year-old Grace Banks who was named Player of the Match during the Warriors Wembley win in June.

The remaining selected players are drawn from three Betfred Women’s Super League sides – Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards.

Training sessions will take place on Wednesday 30th August, involving squads representing Lancashire and Yorkshire with both teams consisting of senior England players alongside some of the games up and coming young talent.

The second Women’s Origin of 2025 will be played on Sunday October 19, two weeks after the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final.

Tickets for the Origin double-header at Sewell Group Craven Park on August 2 are £5 for Adults and £2 for Concessions.

The men’s Academy match will kick off at midday, with the Women’s match at 2pm – and both will be streamed live on the England Youtube Channel.
