York RLFC is launching its first ever Fan Advisory Board. After our biggest and best season ever, we acknowledge we cannot stand still and expect things to grow. As a club we want to ensure we keep solid communication channels between club and fans to attract new supporters, enhance match day experience and grow our membership base.

The Fan Advisory Board will provide a formal opportunity for supporters’ voices, helping the club understand the expectations and experiences of its fan base.

Board members will become a representative for supporters, providing constructive feedback and challenging where appropriate, helping York RLFC make more informed decisions.

The Fan Advisory Board is not intended to replace existing supporter groups or act as one itself and must act in the best interests of the whole York RLFC supporter base when providing feedback and contributing to decision making.

A formal application process will take place to make up the inaugural board. New members will then be appointed if an existing member is either removed or they remove themselves. The club will only remove members if they’re deemed to have acted with improper conduct. The club will aim to appoint a diverse Fan Advisory Board that takes input from multiple segments of its fan base.

As this is a brand-new initiative, the club will take a pro-active approach in assessing its efficiency, effectiveness and decisions will be made about how it operates, as time goes on.

Draft Fan Advisory Board Timeline

29th September – Applications open

9th October – Applications Closed

16th October – Board Appointed

7th December – Fan Advisory Board Introductory Meeting

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

- A genuine interest in York RLFC and its future.

- An understanding of the impact the club has in the city and community.

- The ability to provide honest and constructive feedback.

- The ability to respectfully disagree and continue to work towards the common goal

- An understanding that Fan Advisory Board members are there to represent the entire fan base, not their personal interests

- A willingness to seek and consider the views of fellow York RLFC supporters

- An appreciation that supporters have different experiences, priorities and expectations.

- Good verbal and written communication skills.

- The ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.

- Confidence to contribute to meetings and discussions.

- The ability to work collaboratively with other board members and representatives of York RLFC

- A willingness to attend regular Fan Advisory Board meetings.

- A commitment to prepare for meetings and engage with relevant information.

As a club we want to provide a Fan Advisory Board that can impact the entire fanbase, therefore we want the board to be made up of supporters who can help provide a broad range of perspectives, including people of different:

- Ages

- Genders

- Backgrounds

- Ethnicities

- Socio-economic circumstances

- Family circumstances

- Levels of match attendance

The club would particularly welcome applications from supporters whose voices may not traditionally be represented in formal supporter consultation.
