York RLFC Foundation is delighted to announce two new six-week Offload Programmes, the acclaimed mental fitness programme for men.
Following on from the success of the first round of sessions, the new blocks will take place at the LNER Community Stadium this autumn and winter.
Offload is designed for participants to progress through the programme together, exploring a different mental fitness theme each week while building trust, confidence and support within the group.
Delivered in partnership with Rugby League Cares and funded through York CVS' Community Mental Health Transformation Grant Programme, Offload offers a free, friendly and supportive space where men aged 18+ can improve their mental wellbeing, build resilience and connect with others.
The first programme concluded recently, with participants coming together to explore practical strategies for managing stress, anxiety, relationships and the challenges of everyday life. The positive response from those involved has led to additional blocks being scheduled before the end of the year.
Offload is unlike many traditional mental health programmes. Rather than taking place in clinical settings, sessions are delivered in environments where people already feel comfortable, connected and valued. Hosting the programme at the home of York RLFC allows participants to step behind the scenes of the club while learning practical techniques to support their mental fitness.
The programme is led by experienced Rugby League Cares facilitators and regularly features guest speakers from across the rugby league family, including former players, coaches and wellbeing experts. Through honest conversations and shared experiences, participants gain practical tools they can use to navigate life's challenges while developing supportive connections with others.
Since launching in 2017, Offload has helped thousands of people across rugby league communities and beyond. The evidence-based and independently evaluated programme has been proven to improve mental health literacy, increase help-seeking behaviours and equip participants with techniques that enhance and protect both their own wellbeing and that of those around them.
Whether you're experiencing stress, looking to improve your wellbeing, supporting somebody else, or simply interested in learning more about mental fitness, Offload provides a welcoming environment where every conversation matters.
Each block is designed for a new group of participants to progress through the programme together, exploring a different mental fitness theme each week while building trust, confidence and support within the group.
Adam Prentis, Delivery Manager at York RLFC Foundation, said: "The response to our first Offload programme was incredibly positive and reinforced just how important it is to create spaces where men feel able to talk openly about their wellbeing.
“The combination of expert facilitation, shared experiences and the unique setting of the LNER Community Stadium helps create an environment that is welcoming, engaging and genuinely impactful.
"We're delighted to continue with Offload with these new dates now confirmed and would encourage anyone who may be interested to get involved.
“You don't need to be struggling to benefit from Offload. It's about building mental fitness, learning practical tools and connecting with others."
If you've been thinking about taking the first step, now is the time. Join the next Offload programme and discover why thousands of men across the country have benefited from this life-changing initiative.
Places are free but limited and advance registration is required.
The next programme will run on Wednesday 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th September, and 7th & 14th October 2026 at the LNER Community Stadium from 6.00pm to 7.00pm.
A final intake of the year is currently scheduled for November.
