Peach wins Woman of Steel as Anfield claims Coach of the Year

York Valkyrie Captain Sinead Peach won the 2023 Woman of Steel while Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield took home the Betfred Women's Super League Coach of the Year at the 2023 Rugby League Awards.

Peach emulated York team-mate and 2022 Woman of Steel Tara Jane Stanley, who was also on the six-person shortlist, to claim the individual honour at Old Trafford's The Point in Manchester.

The Valkyrie star, who is proudly sponsored by One Stop Scaffolding was promoted to the role of Captain during the off-season and went on to lead her side to a record second successive League Leaders' Shield in the Betfred Women's Super League as well as a first Betfred Women's Super League Grand Final.

The hooker, who earned an England recall in April, finished as the Valkyrie's joint-top try-scorer in 2023, with 13 tries, and the top assister too, with 31 assists.

Valkyrie Director of Rugby Anfield, who is proudly sponsored by Acomb Travel, also took home silverware at the Rugby League Awards, winning the Betfred Women's Super League Coach of the Year.

Anfield's side won the BWSL League Leaders' Shield for the second year running - setting a new first in the competition - as well as the Grand Final title, for the first time in the Club's history.

York finished the league season with an entire unbeaten record after 11 wins and one draw, including the Play-Off Semi-Finals and the Grand Final.

The Valkyrie became the first team in the history of sport in York to win a top-flight league title after securing the BWSL Grand Final title.
