York RLFC Foundation's biggest Summer Holiday Programme yet!

York RLFC Foundation is celebrating the success of its biggest summer holiday programme to date, with record numbers of sessions, venues and participants engaging in free activities across the city throughout the school holidays!

The programme has provided hundreds of children and young people the opportunity to take part in fun and inclusive sports and activity sessions across York.

More children have been encouraged to stay active, make friends and enjoy positive experiences during the summer break.

The success of the programme has been made possible thanks to the support of a range of local partners, including parish councils, Ward funding programmes, the City of York Council’s support, York Youth Partnership and community organisations who have helped make the sessions accessible to families across the city.

Positive feedback has been received from parents, local councillors and community partners, with many praising the welcoming and inclusive nature of the sessions.

Following activities delivered at Stray Road Playing Field, Heworth Without Parish Council commended the programme for creating enjoyable opportunities for children of all abilities and encouraging young people to become more active in their local communities.

York RLFC Foundation's Delivery Manager, Adam Prentis, said: "The programme is on track to exceed all of our previous records, including delivering the highest number of sessions, using the greatest number of community venues and achieving our highest levels of participation to date.

"Making sport accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone in our local community is something we pride ourselves on at York RLFC Foundation. It has been fantastic to receive so many positive messages about this summer's programme and to see so many children taking part and having such positive experiences.

"It has also been great to have a number of York Valkyrie players helping to deliver this year's programme, giving children the opportunity to meet inspiring female role models and learn from some of the best players in the game.

"This continued growth is only possible thanks to the support of our partners, venues, funders and local communities. By working together, we can continue to create more opportunities for local children, young people and families to get active and enjoy the benefits of sport."
