New Knights deal for Roberts!
York Knights half back, Will Roberts, has agreed a new two year deal thanks to support from Squad Builder!
The 21-year old joined York for 2026, but spent most of the season at partner club, Newcastle Thunder, where he scored 20 tries and kicked 33 goals in 24 appearances.
He scored a try on his York debut in the Easter defeat at Huddersfield Giants, before featuring twice more with back to back appearances at home to Castleford and Catalans Dragons.
Roberts moved to York from St.Helens, where he’d been since the age of 14 after progressing through the Scholarship programme.
He moved into the Academy set up at Saints after coming through the Under 18s, and he was part of the Academy Championship winning team in 2023.
Before joining York, he also spent time on loan at Swinton, Rochdale and Widnes Vikings before being released from Saints at the end of 2025.
Roberts said: "I've loved my first year here and I can't wait for what the next couple of seasons will bring."
Head coach, Mark Applegarth said: "I'm really excited for Will.
"He obviously got a bit of a taste of Super League last year and we'll carry on working with him in terms of his physical development. But, he's got an excellent kicking game, a real composed level head on him and a great passing ability and he's a competitor.
"He had a fantastic year at Newcastle and he really made their team tick. I'm sure over the next two years he'll really embed himself in Super League and show everyone how good he is."
