York City Knights are pleased to announce the loan signing of Featherstone Rovers’ pivot Jake Sweeting on a two-week deal.
Knights winger Perry Whiteley, sponsored by Naked Bean Roasters, has gone the other way in return and both players will benefit from playing time in the coming weeks.
21-year-old Sweeting can play full-back, half-back or at hooker and joins the Knights to provide competition and cover after Kriss Brining sustained an injury against Halifax Panthers last Sunday.
On signing Sweeting, Knights Head Coach James Ford said: “Jake is a half-back or hooker who is coming in to cover Kriss Brining’s injury.
“I’ve seen him play for Castleford against Featherstone and Featherstone against Hunslet and he caught my eye in both games and I’m looking forward to working with Jake.”
Sweeting himself said: “I’m really looking forward to my time at the club whilst I’m here and hoping to get as much game time as possible and help the team as much as I can!”
Sweeting will be sponsored by Naked Bean Roasters and is in line to make his debut this Sunday when the Knights face Batley Bulldogs at the LNER Community Stadium (KO 3pm). Tickets are available and can be bought ahead of gameday from the York Stadium Ticket Office from yorkcityknights.com/tickets.
