York St John University continue as Shirt Partner!

York City Knights are delighted to confirm that York St John University, the Club’s Principal Partner, will once again see their logo emblazoned across our shirts for 2022.

The deal will take the key partnership for the Knights into a fourth year with the relationship going further than solely a shirt partnership.

As part of the ongoing deal, York St John University’s Sports Park has been the base for each of our Men’s, Ladies’ and Disability Rugby League teams. The state-of-the-art facility has improved during our time there and was the beneficiary of a bespoke rugby league 4G pitch, using funds from the Rugby League World Cup CreatedBy programme.

The continued and growing relationship between us has been key to the growth of the Knights in recent years, the facilities proving a draw for many players to both our Mens and Ladies teams.

York St John’s support has also seen use utilise their facilities for community events, including Fish & Chip Fridays as well as matches from our Excel Player Development Programme.

On the shirt partnership, York St John University’s Chief Operating Officer Rob Hickey said: “York St John University is delighted to extend its partnership with the Knights, continuing as main sponsors for the 2022 season. Since 2016 our relationship has grown, extending to student placements, research, shared training facilities and launching the YCK Business Hub.”

“Together, we also secured RFL funding for a fantastic new 4G pitch at the University’s Haxby Road Sports Park last year. The 2021 season was a success for both the mens and womens teams with a new stadium and two cup finals. The season ahead already looks promising with some great new signings and the World Cup coming to York.”

Knights Chairman Jon Flatman said: “We’re proud that York St John University are continuing their partnership with the club and that they will be visible across the playing kits of each of our teams once again in 2022.”

“It’s a pleasure to be partnered with York St John and to see our wide-ranging agreement benefitting both organisations is brilliant.”

“Their commitment to the inclusion agenda is brilliant and has seen the incredibly successful York City Knights Ladies team grow as well as hosting the brilliant Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League Festival earlier this year.”

“We’re proud to be associated with an organisation that committed to equality across the sport and I look forward to welcoming York St John to the Knights once again next year.”

The Knights will be unveiling our new kits next week ahead of our Fans’ Forum on Thursday 25th November at the LNER Community Stadium. More information on the event is available HERE.
