York Valkyrie stretched their winning run to seven games in the Betfred Women’s Super League, with a comprehensive 86-0 win over Warrington Wolves at the LNER Community Stadium.
In a one sided affair against the bottom of the table side, the Valkyrie scored nine first half tries, including two for Eboni Partington, to rack up 48 unanswered points before the break.
With Warrington naming a patched up side, the visitors struggled to get a foothold in the game, and the Valkyrie ran riot.
Seven more second half tries, which saw Savannah Andrade complete her hat-trick, eased the Valkyrie home to a big win.
York’s first points came in their opening set, when Tara Moxon broke clear from 40 metres out to score a try converted by Izzy Brennan.
Moxon’s break then set up the second try, feeding Emma Kershaw to go in. Brennan’s conversion attempt hit the bar.
Savannah Andrade weaved her way through the defence for York’s third try, and with Brennan’s conversion, they were scoring at more than a point a minute.
Evie Sexton went in from a lovely Georgie Dagger pass, before Sinead Peach slid through the defence for the game’s fifth try.
As the half went on, the points scoring rate settled for a short time, and while Warrington did make it into the Valkyrie 20 metre area, a combination of York’s defence and Warrington’s mistakes meant the Valkyrie line wasn’t troubled.
The tries kept coming for York with Peace Lekuru next to cross. She showed great strength to shrug off the defence and stroll in at the corner. Rhiannion Marshall took over kicking duties and converted.
Moments later, Eboni Partington went clear from 40 metres out to score, with Ellie Williamson now with the kicking tee and tagging on the extras.
Marshall then got on the scoresheet, taking another lovely ball from Dagger, and with Williamson’s conversion, York were 44 points ahead.
The Valkyrie weren’t finished and just before the half time whistle, Partington made a break from deep inside her own half to score her second of the match. Williamson couldn’t extend the lead.
Warrington started brightly in the second half and had back to back sets near the York line, but with Kershaw pouncing to intercept for York, the defensive line couldn’t be breached.
Adaoha Akwiwu got the first of the second half, picking up a loose ball 10 metres out, and Marshall added the conversion.
Izzy Bibby put Marshall through for a converted try of her own, before Jas Bell returned to the field and crashed over from short range. Bibby converted.
Andrade scored a great try after Lekuru took a high kick from Williamson and the Valkyrie hit 70 points.
It wasn’t long before Kershaw scored her second, going into space created by some solid passing from the Valkyrie.
When Izzy Brennan converted her own try after being put into a gap by Bell, the 80 point mark came.
Straight from restart, Andrade went in for her hat-trick to complete a dominant afternoon for the Valkyrie.
